The Sharing Sharks of Kindergarten
Kindergarten has had a terrific start of the school year! We have chosen the name “Sharing Sharks” for our class since we know we need to share to get along. We have been learning how to be good kindergarten citizens and how to treat each other with respect and caring.
In language arts, we are looking at letter sounds and learning new sight words. We have been practicing writing our names with upper and lower case letters and have been working on getting our letters just right. Many times a week, we write in our journals about our lives and thoughts.
Our math time has been spent working on our counting, measuring, and number writing. We are learning some neat games that we will use all year long to help us become great mathematicians.
In science and social studies, we have been looking at the world around us. We’ve been looking at plants both in our class and around our school. In addition to looking at our classroom community, we’ve been looking at the community around our cool school. We are looking forward to getting to know the people in our community who help us.
We have started our world language studies with a look at sign language. We will also be looking at Spanish and Hawaiian cultures over the course of the year.
Joining us for the fall is our student teacher, Miss Sharon Edel! We are so happy that she can join us!
We are looking forward to enjoying all of the fun autumn has to bring us. Here’s to an amazing year!
