Welcome back to school! If only these walls could talk! We have been extremely busy in the fourth grade trying to learn the new rules and preparing for a challenging and exciting year. In math we will start the year talking about geometry and focusing on our facts. The students must know all of their multiplication facts up to 12 and the competition has already begun. Please work with your child each night to perfect these. In science we will be discussing matter. Our writing will take us to new heights this year, as we begin discussing figurative language and the correct ways to use different elements to freshen our stories. Keep in mind we have a fun Friday every week. This is a nice unwinding time on Fridays for the students who did their HW all week. If you miss your HW, however, you will be working while other students are having fun. We continue our reading with the Treasures series from last year. We will be working on strengthening our fluency and building our comprehension skills. In social studies this year we will be discussing the regions of our country and also our great state of NJ. I look forward to seeing all of you at back to school night on September 22 and an excellent year in the fourth grade. Thanks for your effort and support!
