Mission Statement
The Home and School Council (a.k.a. “HSC”) has a long history here at Laurel Springs School. Started in 1914 and originally named the Home and School Association, it serves to enrich the lives of our elementary school families by coordinating activities not covered within the pages of a textbook. HSC operates on the philosophy that the elementary school years are crucial to a child’s future. National statistics show that parental involvement in a child’s education generally leads to higher grades, better attendance, motivation, and self-esteem, higher graduation rates, and a greater likelihood to pursue postsecondary education.
By providing opportunities for students, teachers, and families to join together in activities such as the fall festival, assemblies, bingo nights, skate nights, and more, the school truly becomes a community within itself. While keeping such traditional activities alive is an important focus of HSC, it also welcomes new ideas for how best to create lifelong memories for our children.
The fundraising side of HSC is no less important. The funds raised throughout each school year do more than provide activities – they provide opportunities such as music scholarships, computer software, and much more.
HSC – Where your ideas are welcome and your participation is needed
