SCHOOL/PARENT COMPACT
The Laurel Springs School will:
1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the Stage’s student academic achievement standards as follow:
A. Laurel Springs School will continue to provide small class sizes wherever
possible.
B. Laurel Springs School will continue to employ highly qualified certified
personnel.
C. Laurel Springs School continues to provide updated curriculum and curricular
materials to all grade levels.
D. Laurel Springs School will utilize a variety of positive, supportive and highly
effective strategies and programs to continue its safe learning environment
and high standards. One such program that has had great success and will
continue is our “FISH” Program.
2. Hold parent-teacher conferences (at least annually in elementary schools) during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Specifically, those conferences will be held:
Parent teacher conferences will be held twice a year once in the fall and once in the spring. Parent teacher conferences may be held at anytime during the year upon either parent or teacher’s request. Struggling students will automatically receive extra parent teacher conferences through intervention.
3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress. Specifically, the school will provide reports as follows:
Report Cards are sent quarterly
Progress Reports are sent four times at the mid marking period
Weekly Progress updates are provided in Friday Folders
Grade 3 through 6 parents will be provided with passwords to enable them to view grades daily on PowerGrade.
4. Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows:
Weekly Wednesday Open House
Daily access as scheduled between parent and teacher.
5. Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities, as follows:

Parent Responsibilities
We, as parents will support our children’s learning in the following ways:
Monitoring attendance
Making sure that homework is completed.
Monitoring amount of television our children watch
Volunteer in my child’s school
Participating as appropriate, in decisions relating to our children’s education.
Promoting positive use of my child’s extracurricular time.
Limiting / monitoring amount of exposure to technology.
